“The height of men is not measured from the soil to the head;
but from the head to the sky“
“Little Havanna.” is a feature documentary that reflects the magical, vital and essential human character of the acondroplasics, best known as dwarfs, who from ancient times were seen as bearers of bad luck, buffoons, phenomenons… But, nowadays we can live with them and with their presence, knowing about their stories, their motivations, their art and dreams...
Every encounter or experience with any person has in itself the marvel of discovering human beings. But with “dwarfs”, this experience has a magical hallmark.
Even more, when this encounter is accompanied by the joy, optimism and strength of 12 characters, with different crafts ; a woman doctor in the most important hospital in La Havanna, a fisherman with serious mobility problems, a musician who plays the battery, a dog trainer with a tatoo of Che in his chest, a goats pastor who knows he is handsome and thinks that he is the shortest man in the world and wants to compete for the Guinnes award, an ex convict, now redeemed, who is smuggling rum, a girl who dreams of becoming a model, a very short man who drives a bici-taxi and with his effort provides for his wife, who is a normal height woman, and his two children, a short boy and a normal girl…
Measured by their capacity to live with pride and dignity, they show us a truly incredible world. A world that from their point of view is not bigger, but in which the rest of the “normal people” look smaller...
In a few words: The Bible tells us about all kinds of physical problems, illnesses, etc... But it never mentions dwarfs. Is it that the dwarfs don’t exist?
In the 21rst Century in the heart of the Caribbean, a group of dwarfs of different ages, races and religions, talk about life, their life, “the life of the dwarfs”, and then, in the end, in the baroque cemetery of Colón in Havanna, we will discover that the dwarfs do not die, they disappear...
